Technology Sector Success Story Celebrates Fifteen Years

November 9, 2009

November 9, 2009 --Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada – Techlink Entertainment, a Canadian owned developer and manufacturer of sophisticated electronic gaming machines and a proprietary leading edge preventative technology, is celebrating fifteen (15) years in business in Nova Scotia.

The company has progressed from a concept incubated at the Technology Enterprise Centre at Cape Breton University to one of the largest employers of its kind in the region and among the fastest growing in Atlantic Canada. With a yearly wages approaching $4 million, Techlink generates in excess of $20 million in combined economic benefits within the Province of Nova Scotia; contributing noticeably to a reduction in the province’s dependence on imported gaming technologies.

“Fifteen years ago, Cape Breton had considerable expectations for the growth of a vibrant technology sector,” said John Xidos, company founder, President and CEO. “ A lot of energy and effort went into building a foundation for local technology enterprise development and several new ventures sprung up. On the strength of its size, economic footprint and global reach, Techlink has risen to a position of prominence in the region’s technology sector.”

In recent years, Techlink has successfully broken into global  markets, and is continuing with efforts to ensure its one-of-a-kind Gameplan™ technology becomes the standard adopted internationally for responsible gaming. Gameplan is unrivalled in how it equips players with key information about their gaming behaviour and positively influences decision-making. The Company co-ventured with the Province of Nova Scotia in the development of the Gameplan technology, and it is now being deployed throughout the Province.

“Fifteen years have flown by.” said Xidos “Looking forward, we see the potential to grow Techlink to a 300 person enterprise over the next 3-5 years. We’re proud of what we have accomplished and delighted to be contributing the way we are to the region’s technology sector and economy.”
