Newly Granted Patents Strengthen Techlink™'s Global Market Position

January 19, 2009

Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada -----Advanced gaming technology developer and manufacturer, Techlink Entertainment, has been granted two extremely significant new patents in the United States for its responsible gaming product (Gameplan).  Initial application for the patents was made in 2002 and the company received official notice of acceptance this week.

Techlink designed and has now commercialized the Gameplan system which provides VLT players with information on how much money they spend and how long they gamble.  Gameplan also provides players with tools to allow them to set money limits and time limits while gambling.  The two new patents put Techlink in a very strong competitive position to be a world leader providing responsible gaming technologies.

Nova Scotia will deploy Techlink’s Gameplan system on all of the VLT’s in the province.  This number is close to 3,000 machines out of ALC’s approx 8,500 machines in all four Atlantic Canadian provinces. The decision to deploy in Nova Scotia follows years of exhaustive testing, technical analysis, player behaviour modification trials and the expert assessment of clinicians and therapists globally. The product is at the forefront of responsible gaming strategies under consideration or now being implemented in a number of jurisdictions internationally. Techlink is engaged in advanced discussions with several jursdictions and currently responding to proposal requests.

John Xidos, President and CEO: “Patents are key for companies like Techlink.  The ones we just received will enable us to compete with the big players in the US gaming industry.  The total market opportunity for products that use this patented technology is in the billions of dollars.  Even though we make gaming products like our Gameplan system, without patent protection we would never be able to carve out a significant piece of the market.  Now that we are securing patents in the US and in jurisdictions all around the world the opportunity to really grow the company and be a significant Nova Scotia based exporter is greatly increased . Its staff,  which has been growing steadily has a complement of almost 80 employees and expected to reach 100 this year with the expectation that this growth will continue. The company is broadly held by shareholders in Canada.
